BURNS SUFFERED IN GAS EXPLOSION PROVE FATAL

Morton, III. — Donald Summers, 21, of this community died at the Methodist hospital, Peoria on Sept. 12 after suffering extensive burns in a gas explosion the day before.

The youth was alone at the farm home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl E. Summers, northwest of here when he heard sounds indicating trouble in an engine used to pump natural gas into the home. When he struck a match in the engine house to investigate, there was an explosion which set his clothes on fire. He was able to put out the flames and phone the Morton fire department.
