MANY ATTEND FUNERAL SERVICES FOR WESTERN KANS. FARMER

Montezuma, Kans. — Funeral services at the Montezuma Mennonite church on March 5 for Sam Dirks, 65, well-known farmer of this community, were widely attended. An estimated 2,000 people were present.

Mr. Dirks passed away March 1, four days after being suddenly stricken by an ailment which left him unconscious until death. He had many friends in this and other communities, and had carried on large-scale farming operations in this area.

He is survived by five daughters, three sons, and a number of grandchildren. The final services were conducted by ministers Albert Unruh, F. H. Wenger and Ervin Harms.
