Newton And
Vicinity

. . .

— Many of the older settlers in and around Newton will regret to hear of the death of Ferdinand Malleis, 76, shoe repair man here for over 50 years. through the long years spent in his profession he grained for himself an unusually large circle of acquaintances and fends. His childhood home was in Elbing, Germany, from where he came to this country with his parents in 1885. He remained at his shoe-maker's bench until only a few weeks before his death. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church here, of which he was a member, on Friday, August 17.
