MRS. ELIZABETH JANTZ WAS NEXT TO OLDEST RESIDENT AT CARNEGIE

Carnegie, Okla. – A pioneer resident of this community and member of an immigrant group of 1874, Mrs. Elizabeth Jantz, 84, passed away on Aug. 31 at the farm home where she had lived since 1902.

The oldest resident of the community, Mrs. Susie Base, is now 88. Last April a communion service was held for these two saints who have been faithful for so many years. those attending the service were Rev. and Mrs. Curt D. Boese, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dalke, Mr. and Mrs. John Nightengale, Mildred Nightengale, and Mr. and Mrs. De Dan Unruh.

Mrs. Jantz was born in Poland on May 1, 1865. She came to America with her parents in 1874, and they settled on a farm near Halstead, Kansas. In 1882 she was married to J. B. Jantz at Halstead, where they lived until 1893, when they moved to Pauls Valley.

In 1902 they moved to a farm 12 miles southeast of Carnegie, where they lived until their deaths. Mr. Jantz died March 6, 1938.

The survivors are six sons, Peter J. Jantz of Marysville, Mo., Ben J. Jantz of Verden, William J. and Lewis J. Jantz of Fort Cobb, Dan J. Jantz of Oklahoma City, and Sam J. Jantz of Carnegie; six daughters, Mrs. N. H. Harrell of Colony, Mrs. Minnie Schmidt and Mrs. Henry J. Schmidt, of Carnegie, Mrs. Andrew Fogelstrom of Cashmere, Wash., Mrs. Henry H. Unruh of Meno, and Mrs. Simon Janz of Inola.

Also surviving are two brothers, two sisters, 75 grandchildren, and 61 great grandchildren.
