He was a faithful minister of Word for many years. Born in Southern Russia in 1895, in 1909 he came with his parents to South Dakota and from there to Herbert, Sask., in 1913. Since 1945 he had resided in Matsqui. His first wife, Tina Andreas, died in 1928, leaving two children. On Feb. 1, 1929, he married Lydia Hiebert and this union was also blessed with children: four sons and five daughters.

He prepared his last message the night before he died on the topic, "The Prayer of the Afflicted Heart." It was never preached; He leaves to mourn his wife, five sons, six daughters, five sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, three brothers, four sisters and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held December 13, 1961, at the Matsqui church.
