ELLA R. FRETZ

Ella R. Fretz, daughter of Joseph and Catharine Rickert Fretz, was born October 22, 1862, in Bedminster township, Bucks county, Pennsylvania, on the farm on which she lived and died.

She was baptized on confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by Minister Jacob S. Moyer, on May 19, 1878, and was received into the membership of the Deep Run Mennonite congregation of the Eastern District Conference. Remaining single all her life, she lived with her late brother, Anthony R. Fretz, on the old homestead.

She lived a quiet life of humble service before her Lord and her fellowmen. She was the last member of her parental family, the second oldest member of the Deep Run congregation, and the last of the fifth generation from the immigrant fathers in the Deep Run congregation.

Ailing for several weeks, she fell asleep on January 13, 1949, at the age of 86 years. Near relatives who remain to remember her are her sister-in-law, Mrs. Anthony Fretz, and children.

The funeral and interment were held at Deep Run on January 17, 1949. Rev. J. H. Fretz officiated, using as a text Genesis 49:29.
