Mrs. Henry H. Janzen

Our Mother, Mrs. Henry H. Janzen (nee Suzanna Warkentin) was born in Altnau, South Russia, on March 8, 1878. With her parents Peter and Suzanna Warkentin she came to America as an infant. At the age of seven, she lost her mother and at the age of twelve her father died, which brought upon her great sadness and many hardships.

At the age of twenty she was married to Henry H. Janzen on Dec. 23, 1898. To this union four children were born. One son Daniel passed on in infancy. Our Mother was God-fearing, loving and unselfish, always willing to sacrifice her all in joy and in sorrow.

A person of few words, she always saw the right side of life. Music was her joy Her favorite song was, "Farther Along Well [sic We'll] Understand Why," which she often sang.
