HOWARD BAUMAN

Howard Bauman, 68, of Middletown, Ohio, died May 4, 1997.

He was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Lisbon, Ohio, the son of Silas G. and Esther Lodwick Bauman. He was raised on the Firestone farm formerly in the Columbiana area, as his dad was a tenent [sic] farmer. Howard's Mennonite background — both Mennonite Church and General Conference Mennonite Church — gave him a broad outlook on the church's activities.

Howard was well-known among MC and GC members as he worked in his youth as secretary for Milo Kauffman, president of Hesston (Kan.) College. He served his country in 1-@ from 1952 to 1954 as a conscientious objector, working in mental health in Cleveland and purchasing/shipping at Kaiser Refratories in Columbiana.
