Mrs. E. W. (Helen Ediger) Hein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ediger, was born at Hampton, Nebr., on March 26, 1903. On March 21, 1964, she was suddenly called to be with the Lord whom she loved and served. Her time on earth was just five days short of 61 years.

Mother came to Hillsboro, Kan. with her parents in 1912. Here she finished the elementary school and attended Tabor College Academy for one year. During revival services by Rev. H. S. Voth, she experienced the forgiveness of sin and found newness of life by faith in Christ Jesus. Upon confession of this faith, she was baptized by Rev. P. E. Nickel on June 18, 1916 and was received into membership of the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren church. On Sept. 3, 1921 she transferred her membership to the Ebenfeld Church where she remained an active and faithful member until her death.

On March 27, 1921 she was united in marriage with E. W. Hein and together they established their home on the farm four miles east and two miles south of Hillsboro. God blessed the home with three sons and three daughters. To the very last day of her life, mother continued to pray that God would bless and use each child and grandchild to bring honor to the name of Christ. From 1924 to 1944 a niece Lizzie Reiswig, lived with the family. To mother she was just like one of her own children.

On March 27, 1946 the parents observed their 25th wedding anniversary at the Ebenfeld Church with praise and thanksgiving to god. They were anticipating their 43rd wedding anniversary on March 27 of this year.

Mother loved the church and found joy in participating in its fellowship and activity. Her contribution through the Ladies Missionary Society was an inspiration and help to many. She had a deep concern for foreign missions and expressed this with her gifts and prayers.

Mother suffered from a diabetic condition for the last 18 years of her life, but she accepted it without complaint and continued to work in behalf of family, farm, and friends. Because of greater discomfort and exhaustion, she was taken to Salem Hospital in Hillsboro on March 19. As a result of a heart condition, she suddenly and unexpectedly departed to be with the Lord on the morning of March 21.

In death she leaves her husband; three sons: Harry, Denver, Colo., Edward and Dalton, Hillsboro, Kans.; three daughters : Eileen, Mrs. Herb Nickel, Santa Anna, Calif., Melba, Mrs. Adam Hill, and Marilyn, Mrs. Homer D. Mohn, Hillsboro; sons and daughters-in-law, 17 grandchildren; three brothers: John J. Ediger, Hampton, Nebr., Henry Ediger, Chicago, Jake Ediger, Reedley, Calif.; four sisters: Anna, Mrs. Isaac D. Klaasen, Hillsboro, Agnes, Mrs. Henry A. Gaede, Reedley, Calif., Katherine, Mrs. Dan Wiens, Hillsboro, and Mary, Mrs. Arnold Leppke, Carrington, N. D. and many relatives and friends. Her parents and two brothers, Abe and Cornelius preceded her in death. — The Family.
