Mrs. P. P. Preheim

Freeman, So. Dakota, May 30. — This community was shocked Friday when the sad news came from Mitchell that Mrs. P. P. Preheim is dead. Mrs. Preheim was always in fairly good health until Sunday May 19th, she took sick suddenly. At first her case was not considered serious. Wednesday she was taken to the Mitchell hospital and was operated Thursday on for peritonitis or inflamation of the intestine. Mr. Preheim was told by the doctors right after the operation that they could not save her life, which was indeed sad news to the family. Mrs. Preheim was liked and loved by all who knew her and scattered sunshine not shadow, and will be greatly missed not only by her dear children and husband but also in the church and community. She was ready to go and meet her Saviour, and died peacefully on May 24 at 4:00 o'clock p. m. at the age of only 37 years, 1 month and 17 days. She leaves to mourn her bereaved husband, and 5 children who have our deepest sympathy. Funeral services were held in the South Church Sunday afternoon Revs. Schrag and Gottshall officiating. The choir sang her favorite song "constantly Abiding." A large crowd gathered to pay their lat tribute. Myrtle Josephine Wittrig was born in Decator [sic Decatur] County, Kansas, on April 7, 1892. At the age of about 5 years her parents Mr. Joseph G. and Mrs. Elizabeth Wilmer Wittrig moved form Kansas to Noble, Iowa, where she grew up to womanhood.
