AGED ELBING MINISTER DIES

Rev. C. H. Regier Called to His Reward, Friday March 16.

Rev. C. H. Regier, one of the pioneers of the Elbing community and well known minister among Mennonite people in Kansas, was called to his reward last Friday night, March 16. His death makes the passing of another man who did much for the advancement and building of the Mennonite church in this community and especially of the church at Elbing, where he had served as pastor for many years.

Rev. Regier was numbered as one of the oldest ministers in Kansas. He was a brother to Rev. Bernhard Regier, living east of Newton, and J. H. Regier, of this city.

Funeral services are being held at the Mennonite church in Elbing this afternoon.

Rev. C. H. Regier

Cornelius H. Regier, near Elbing, died of influenza at his home Saturday, March 17th, 1928. He was born in Marienburg, Germany, October 16, 1842. Married to Anna Regier in 1866. Came to Kansas in 1880 taking a farm a half mile west and a mile north of Elbing, where he has made his home constantly since. For the past thirty years he has been a minister of the Zion Church of Elbing, retiring from active pastorate there in 1921. In 1916 they held their Golden Wedding Anniversary and in 1919 he was left a widower. He is survived by four sons and three daughters. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, March 21st, at the home at two o’clock and at the Zion church at three, interment being made in the Zion Cemetery. — Whitewater Independent.
