BURTON DAVID FRETZ


Burton David Fretz, 61, died April 5, 2001, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, due to leukemia. He was the executive director of the National Senior Citizens Law Center in Washington.

He was a 1958 graduate of Newton (Kan.) High School. He graduated from Amherst (Mass.) College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia. He was a life-long advocate of social justice, especially for senior citizens.

Survivors include his wife, Anne, of Chevy Chase, Md.; a son, Nathan, and a daughter, Rachel, both of Chevy Chase; his parents, J. Winfield and Marguerite Fretz, of North Newton, Kan.; two brothers, Steve of Fresno, Calif., and Tom of Overland Park, Kan.; and a sister, Sara Fretz Goering of Silver Spring, Md.
