EFFIE SOMMERS

Effie Sommers, 79, died in her home at Plevna, Ind. on Nov. 24, 1976. Born June 30, 1897, in Howard County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Kendall) Horner.

She was married Apr. 20, 1924, to Monroe Sommers, who survives. She was a member of Howard-Miami Mennonite Church, Kokomo, where she was active in the WMSA and as a Sunday school teacher

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Elaine) Rich of North Newton, Kan. and Mrs. Joe (Emma) Richards of Villa Park, Ill.; three sons, Daniel Sommers of Converse, Ind., Elvin Sommers of Greentown, Ind., and Samuel Sommers of Amboy, Ind.; two brothers, Lloyd Horner of Kokomo, and Roscoe Horner of Amboy, [sic unreadable]; a sister, Drusilla Spurgeon of Kokomo; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was held Nov. 28 at the Howard-Miami church with Ralph Stahley officiating. Clayton Sommers and Joe Richards assisting. Burial was in the Mast Cemetery.
