Death Claims Retired Bishop in Indiana

Goshen, Ind. — Rev. Samuel T. Eash, 82, retired bishop of the Griner Conservative Mennonite Church near Middlebury, died at a nursing home here April 14 after a two-month illness.

A resident at the Middlebury community most of his life, Rev. Eash was ordained as bishop of the Griner congregation in 1923. His wife, Katie, died in 1963. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Levi Burkholder of rural Goshen and Mrs. Mose Troyer of Hartville, Ohio; three sons, Calvin at Fairview, Mich., Joe of Elkhart and Leon of Tucson, Ariz, and their families.

Funeral services were held April 17 at the Fairhaven Conservative Church.
