Little Girl Drowns In River at Reedley

Reedley, Calif.—Searchers recovered the body of nine-year-old Tina Rempel from the Kings River here on Aug. 14, nearly three days after she fell from a buoy at Reedley Beach.

Tina and her sister Marie, 5, were sitting on the buoy when they were thrown into the cold, swift waters of the river by waves from a passing boat. Marie was pulled from the river by occupants of another boat.

The parents are Mr. and Mrs. John Rempel. The family came to California from Chihuahua, Mexico about five years ago.
