NEWTON and Vicinity

• Arlo Ratzlaff, 58, of Kirwin, Kan. and formerly of Goessel, died Monday morning at the veterans' hospital in Omaha. Funeral services are to be Thursday afternoon at the Miller Funeral Home in Goessel, with Rev. Ronald Krehbiel officiating. Mr. Ratzlaff was a prisoner of war for three months in western Europe during World War Il. He formerly operated a cafe in Goessel, and since then had lived at Salina and Kirwin. He underwent cancer surgery in 1970. Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John J. Ratzlaff of Goessel, and four brothers, John H., Wilbur, and LeRoy of Goessel, and Orick of Saugus, Calif.
