18-year-Old-Arkansas Youth Killed When Tractor Overturns
Mountain View, Ark.—A tractor accident near here on Jan. 8 resulted in instant death for 18-year-old Nathan Miller, son of Erwin and Dorothy Miller.
Relatives and friends from other states as well as a number of community residents were among those present for the largely attended funeral, held at the Happy Hollow Conservative Mennonite Church.
The Miller youth had taken a tractor to tow his father's vehicle up the road to the family home. The road was snowy and icy, and as he maneuvered the tractor to hook onto the other vehicle the rear wheels slipped over a small bank. When he tried to move forward the front of the tractor raised up and it flipped over on him, pinning him face down in the snow.
His father was unable to free him, and ran to a neighbor's home for help. The two were able to free the youth by using a jack and began mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. However, a doctor who was called to the scene said death had been instantaneous.
The Miller family formerly lived at Goshen, Ind.
