Retired Auto Dealer Dies in Florida
Archbold, Ohio—Seth J. Short, 75, retired auto dealer at West Unity, died Jan 8 in Sarasota (Fla) Memorial Hospital.
The body was returned to Ohio and funeral services were conducted Jan. 12 at the Lockport Mennonite Church.
A native of the Archbold community, Mr. Short farmed for many years and in 1945 moved to West Unity where he owned and operated Short Chevrolet Sales and Service.

SETH J. SHORT
Seth J. Short, son of Joseph S. and Jennie (Nofziger) Short, was born on Jan. 21, 1897 near Archbold, Ohio, and passed to his eternal reward on Jan. 8, 1973 at the Sarasota (Fla) Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. His death came six days following surgery for a brain tumor.
On Jan. 20, 1920 he married Lillian Rufenacht of Stryker, O. One daughter and three sons were born to this union. His wife Lillian passed away in 1962.
In 1963 he married Rosa Short, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Gelena, Mrs. Tom Davis, and three sons, Max, Gerald and Galen, all of West Unity, O.; 10 grandchildren, three stepchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
After his first marriage he and his wife moved to a farm near West Unity, O. where they farmed and raised their family. In 1942 and 1943 they lived and farmed near Sheffield, Ill. On their return to Ohio they moved back on the home farm, and in 1955 they moved to West Unity. In 1945 he purchased the Chevrolet Garage in West Unity which he continued to operate until his death.
In his youth he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Mennonite Church. He was a member of the Lockport congregation at the time of his death. For many years he was a member of Gideons International, which service he enjoyed very much.
Funeral services were conducted at the Lockport Mennonite Church on Jan. 12, 1973 by Walter Stuckey, pastor. Burial was made in the Lockport Cemetery.
