FRED H. GROVE
Fred Haun Grove of Limon, Colo. was born at Cullum, Ill., on March 11, 1895, son of John and Emma Grove. He moved with his parents to Garden City, Mo. at the age of four years and to Newton, Kan. at the age of 12.
He was married to Alta Weaver on Feb. 1, 1917. One little girl came to bless this home in 1920. This was a happy home until July 21, 1963 when Alta passed away. On July 15, 1967, Fred and Ogla [sic Olga] Low were married and another happy home was established. He passed away at Lincoln Community Hospital, Hugo, Colo. on Dec 4, 1972.
Fred leaves his wife, Olga; his daughter Ruby and husband Archie Pearson; one grandson; sisters, Gladys Grove and Mrs. Al Weaver, both of Hesston, Kan.; four step-children, Francis Low and wife Florence of New Virginia, Iowa, Elizabeth Burns and husband Jerry of Riverside, Calif., Donald Keith Low and wife Stella of Atwater Air Base in California, Raymond and wife Helen of League City, Tex.; seven step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Fred loved farming and animals and was a farmer all his active life. He became a member of the Mennonite Church in 1907 and served on various committees and as a member of the Church Board for a number of years. He was especially active in the Sunday school, and many men today recall the influence that Fred had upon their lives when they sat in his class as boys.
Funeral services were held Dec. 7, 1972 at 11:00 a.m. in the United Methodist Church of Limon with Rev. Granville Smythe and Rev. Eldo Miller of the Limon Mennonite Church officiating.
