JOHN JACOB LETKEMAN

John Jacob Letkeman of Waldheim, Sask . passed away on October 29. He was born to Jacob and Katerina (Sawatzky) Letkeman on April 1, 1900 in Nikolaipol, Russia. He immigrated to Canada with his father in 1924, arriving at Holdfast, Sask. He married Mary Fast on November 21,1926 and they bought a farm at Staughton, Sask. the following year. Two years later they moved to Hague, Sask. and a year later homesteaded at North- vale, Sask. After 34 years they moved to Waldheim in 1964. They were both very active in creative projects in MCC relief. He had living faith in his Lord. He was baptized by Elder Abe Unrau on June 5, 1922. He cherished the songs of faith. He is survived by his wife Mary; daughters Mary of Kelowna, B.C., Margaret of Neilburg , Sask., Martha of Milton, Ont., Hilda and Frieda of Saskatoon; sons Frank of Victoria , John of Calgary and Richard of Fort Ray, N.W.T.; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was held November 1 at the Waldheim MB Church with pastor John Goertzen officiating.
