JACOB H. MARTENS

assed away on August 19. He was born on July 25, 1904 in Kharkov, Russia and im- migrated with his parent s to Main Centre , Sask. three months later . While attending Herb e rt (Sask.) Bible School, at age 18 he ex- perienced new life in Christ on the basis ohn 8 :3 6. T he same year he was baptized and joined th e Main Centre MB Church. On June 28. 1928 he married Susie Nickel of Dalmeny. Sask. They . farm ed at Main Centre for 45 ye ar s. a nd retired to Swift Current in 1973. He loved farming and church life. and taught Sunday school for 23 years . He also served as church tr ea s urer. deacon. and committ ee member at various times. In Swift Current. he volunteered for construc- tion of th e Br idgeway Community Church. He is survived by his wife Susie; four sons and wives: Elmer and Phyllis of Fresno. CA. Menno a nd Annabelle of Swift Current. Orlando and Verna. Walter and Diana of Main Ce ntre; 13 grandchildren . three broth- ers and five sisters.
