BERNARD THIESSEN

Bernard Thiessen died Dec. 24, 2007 in a drowning accident in Ontario. He was born April 24, 1946 in Mexico. At 8, Bernard's family moved to Swift Current, Sask. for 8 years, and then to Chin, Alta. Though slightly mentally challenged, in his unique way he realized he needed a church to belong to, and for many years set out to walk to a church in Coaldale some 10 miles away, sometimes getting a ride. In 1976, he was baptized on confession of faith and remained a member of Coaldale MB Church. Bernard enjoyed horseback riding, puzzling, and going for walks. Predeceased by 5 siblings, he is mourned by 5 sisters; two sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews, and a world of friends. Though his body was never recovered, a memorial service was held Jan.5 at Coaldale MB Church.
