MARY (MARIE) THIESSEN

Mary (Marie) Thiessen died Dec. 20, 2007 at age 94. She was born May 15, 1913 to David and Maria Penner in Ukraine. Raised in Rovnapol, Siberia, Marie moved back to Ukraine and then left for Canada in 1925. The rest of her childhood years were spent on a farm in Grassy Lake, Alta. At Coaldale Bible School, she met Henry Thiessen and married June 16, 1935. They raised six children while farming and teaching in various places in southern Alberta. Marie lived in Lethbridge, Alta., Morden, Man., and Abbotsford, B.C, before moving to Cariboo Lodge in Williams Lake, B.C in 2000. Those who knew Marie felt loved. Predeceased by Henry in 1975, daughter Laura Grace, and 4 siblings; she is mourned by children Dolores (Harry) Goerz, Arni (Rosemarie), Willard (Betty), Henry Elmer (Shirley), Dave (Jan), Ernie (Debbie); 27 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings. The memorial service was Dec. 28 at Cariboo Bethel Church, Williams Lake, B.C.
