Following a move to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. in 1975, Jake and Lori joined Fairview MB Church, St. Catharines, where they served as deacons for 12 years. After retirement, Jake enjoyed travelling and helping out at a local car wash. Jake was known for his charisma, ready smile, strong handshake, big heart, and endless generosity. The celebration of life was June 25 at Fairview MB Church.
