MARY LOEWEN

Mary (Plett) Loewen died February 19. She was born June 20, 1915 in Trubetskoi, Russia and came to Canada at age 10, living first in Hochfeld, Man., then Morden, Man. As a teenager, she worked as a domestic in Winnipeg. In September 1940, she married David Loewen. The couple farmed in Newton, Man., where they joined and participated in Newton MB Church. In 1974, they moved to Winnipeg, joining Portage Ave. Church. Mary's hands were seldom idle. She loved to have people over and to make gifts from her knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Predeceased by David, she is mourned by daughters Irene and Anne; sons David and Peter; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. The memorial service was Feb. 23 at Portage Ave. Church.
