DAVID GOERTZ

David Goertz died peacefully Mar. 8 at age 90. He was born July 16, 1916 in Kamenetz, Russia to Peter and Maria Goertz. In 1924, the family immigrated to Canada, settling in Crowfoot, Alta., and later Lindbrook, Alta. Dave married Susie Mar- tens Mar. 25, 1940 and for 6 years worked on the Jones Ranch in Bassano, Alta. In 1946 they moved to Coaldale, where Dave worked as a farmer, welder, and meatpacking plant main- tenance worker, using his skills as an inventor to design and build labour-saving machinery. In 1989, Dave and Susie moved to Claresholm, lta. On confession of his faith, Dave was bap- tized as a teenager and joined the MB Church. He served in Coaldale MB Church, Lakeview MB Church, and Claresholm Faith Community Bap- tist Church. Predeceased by 2 brothers; 2 sisters; he is mourned by his wife of 66 years, Susie; children Martha (Dave) Hubert, Dave (Kathy), Erv (Lorna), Mary Ann (Norm) Elford; 10 grand- children; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings. The memorial service was Mar. 24 at Claresholm Faith Community Baptist Church.
