MARY LOEWEN

(Mrs.) Mary Loewen of Arnold, B.C. passed away suddenly on April 14. She was born on June 18, 1922 in Halbstadt, Russia, the daughter of John and Margaret Unger. At age four she immigrated with her parents to the community of Ernfold, Saskatchewan. Here she spent her childhood years, attended elementary school and helped on the parental farm. Mary received Christ as her Saviour in her early teens. She was baptized in 1940 into the Flowing Well Mennonite Brethren Church and spent four winters at Bible institutes in Herbert, Sask. and Yarrow, B.C. She married Abe D. Loewen on April 4, 1948 at Flowing Well MB Church. The couple made their home in Arnold, B.C. and enjoyed 32 years of married life together. They had two children, son John, and daughter Lois (Mrs. Clifford) Voth of Abbotsford, B.C. Mary was involved in Sunday school singing and teaching and was also active in various church and community activities. Predeceasing were her sister Annie who died in infancy; her father John H. Unger; and her brother Edward of Surrey, B.C. She is survived by her hus- band Abe D. Loewen; her son John; daughter Lois and son-in-law Clifford Voth of Abbotsford; her mother Mrs. Margaret Unger of Winnipeg; one sister and family; five brothers and their families; six sisters-in-law and their families; and one brother-in-law and family. The funeral was held April 18 at Arnold MB Church in Abbotsford with pastor Harry Loewen officiating, assisted by Peter C. Penner.
