JAKE DOERKSEN

Jake Doerksen died Sept. 20, hand in hand with his wife. He was born Feb. 1924 in Nikoleifeld, Russia just months before his family crossed the ocean to Canada. In 1929, they settled in Winnipeg, where Jake grew up and committed his life to the Lord. He became a spiritual help to his younger brothers. After working for Watkins Products and Henderson Directories, Jake became a teacher. He taught in Winkler, Man. and Winnipeg. Jake also taught the children of the Canadian Armed Forces in Germany. In Aug. 1974, he married Marjorie Drebert and became a loving father to her two teenage sons. Jake and Marjorie loved music and sang in choirs. Jake enjoyed keeping in touch with his siblings and their families, travelling across Canada to visit them. He is mourned by Marjory and her sons Jim (Roz) and Doug (Marilyn). and grandchildren Mark, Paul, Michael, and Brian; 2 sisters; 4 brothers; 15 nieces and nephews. The memorial service was Sept. 26 at Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford, B.C.
