MICHAEL DAVID SCHMIDT

Michael David Schmidt died July 11. He was born Mar. 22, 1984 in Regina to Ed and Marie Schmidt. Mike had a school career of excellence, finishing high school at the top of his class, delivering the valedictorian address and winning a scholarship to the University of Regina. In March 1998, Mike knelt with his mom and asked Jesus Christ to be his Saviour. His father had the privilege of baptizing him the same year. Friends and family enjoyed his theatrical talents and sense of humour. Mike was involved in several plays and delighted in performing scenes from his favourite movies. Mike went to Westbank Bible Camp as a camper and later as a counsellor; it was a special place for him. Mike became depressed in 2004 and was later diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, a disease that eventually claimed his life. Mike is mourned by his parents; sisters Jennifer and Brenda (Tevis) Schultz; brother Cory (Lisa); 1 great-grandmother; 2 grandmothers; 1 grandfather; aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral was July 16 at Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, Sask.
