HELENA HIEBERT

Helena Hiebert died in September at age 105. She was born Dec. 9, 1899 to Johan and Susanna Schroeder in Grossweide, Man. She was a hard-working, industrious woman and by 10, she was already serving as a domestic helper for her neighbours. One of the highlights of her youth was her conversion and baptism. Helena was a member of the MB church for over 87 years. In Oct. 1918, Helena married John Hiebert and spent many years supporting her husband on their family farm by raising a family, milking cows, stooking grain sheaves, pitching hay, planting gardens, tending an orchard, and assisting in bookkeeping. She enjoyed working in the kitchen at Winkler Bible Camp, reading, reciting Bible verses, and praying for her family. Predeceased by John in 1972; 12 brothers and sisters; 1 daughter; she is mourned by daughter Elma (Abram) Klassen, sons Allan (Kathy) and Art (Elva); 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.
