MARIA MINNIE WIENS

Minnie Wiens died suddenly Oct. 22. She was born Sept. 2, 1911 in Winkler, Man. to Johan G. and Katharina Wiebe. In 1932, she married David Wiens. After her husband's sudden death in 1935, she moved back home with her parents. Minnie worked as a house painter and then as a cook at Winkler Bible School. She volunteered and kept busy making socks, mitts, blankets and braided rugs. She was also a prizewinning baker and canner. Minnie loved to help the less fortunate and supported charities such as MCC, the Red Cross and the Canadian Cancer Society. Predeceased by her husband; son David; she is mourned by sister Hilda (Dan) Hildebrand; brother Bill (Margaret); 1 daughter-in-law; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
