HERBERT SPERLING

Henry Sperling was born to Henry ans Elizabeth (Koehn) Sperling at Inman, Kan. on March 26, 1905. He went to be with the Lord on Aug. 6, 1974, having attained the age of 69.

He received his grammar school education in Kansas. In 1920 he moved to California with his parents and here attended Reedley High School for one year.

He accepted Christ as Savior and in July 1927 was baptized and became a member of the South Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church. In recent years he was a member of the Kingsburg Mennonite Brethren Church.

On Oct. 25, 1931 he married Helen Krause. To this union were born two daughters and one son.

He served 23 years in the ministry of the Gospel, two in Toll House, Calif. and 21 in the Grangeville Community Church near Hanford, where he was ordained. This was always a labor of love and he earned his livelihood on his farm southwest of Reedley.

Surviving him are his wife, of Reedley, Calif.; one son, Herbert Jr. of Los Osos, Calif.; two daughters, Jane, Mrs. Orland Friesen of Dinuba, Calif. and Emogene, Mrs. Ted Regier Jr. of Newton, Kan.; one sister, Anna, Mrs. David Krause of Reedley, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
