• Carl K. Suderman, 73, well-known Newton businessman, died the evening of Oct. 10 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He lived in Newton most of his life. He formerly was employed at Midland National Bank and was a member of the bank's board of directors at the time of death. He was the retired owner of the Suderman Co., an insurance firm, was a former president of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Bethel College board of directors, and was active in Newton civic affairs. Private funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Bethel College Church, of which he was a member. Rev. Esko Loewen and Msgr. Irvin Lampe of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiated. Surviving are his widow, the former Genevieve Hannah; one daughter, Mrs. Edward Huycke of Arlington, Va.; one brother, John C. of Newton; one sister, Mrs. Albert Buck of new Haven, Conn.; and nine grandchildren.
