MARGARETA HAMM

Margareta Hamm died Jan. 29. She was born Sept. 19, 1919 in Orenburg, Ukraine to Peter and Katharina Friesen. The family immigrated to Brazil. She married Peter Hamm July 11, 1942. In 1958 they moved to Ontario. She worked as a seamstress for Lincoln Upholstery and Shepherd Boats. She became a nurse's aide, working at Tabor Manor in St. Catharines. Peter died Mar. 9, 1996. She developed Parkinson's disease. She enjoyed tending to her plants, baking, sewing, knitting, reading and helping others. She wrote many letters, was a warm and compassionate person, and had a sense of humour. Predeceased by Peter, she is mourned by children Gerda Lockstadt, Ursula Hinz, Jurgen, and Ralph; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Feb. 2 in Orchard Park Bible Church, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., with Jim Evans and Herman Neufeld ministering.
