Lily Dirksen died June 9. She was born Jan . 14, 1922 in Alexan- derthal, Ukraine to He- lena and Jacob Dirk- sen. The family immi- grated to Canada in 1926, living in Manito- ba, Saskatchewan and then settling in Ab- botsford, B.C. in 1936. She chose faith in Christ as a child and was baptized at 14, joining Abbotsford MB Church. She worked in Vancouver to support the family. She trained as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in Vancouver General Hospital and then as a doctor's receptionist. After retirement in 1978 she continued visit- ing and caring for the sick, and was hon- oured for her volunteer service at the Burna- by Health Department. She enjoyed travel- ling and photography. She held the family together after her parents' death. Prede- ceased by her parents and 2 infant siblings, she is mourned by siblings Jake, Helen, Pete, Erika, Henry and Mary; many nieces and nephews.
