JACOB H. JANZEN

Jacob H. Janzen died Apr. 6. He was born Dec. 30, 1931 in Crystal City, Man. He moved to Winnipeg and then to McCreary, Man. He married Elisabeth Dueck June 1, 1957. He graduated from psychiatric nursing school and worked at the Brandon Mental Hospital for 17 years, then went into sales and later had his own business. Music and singing were a major part of his life. He won the Rose Bowl in Brandon in 1958 and was runner-up for the Rose Bowl in Winnipeg in 1959. He was choir director in Brandon, started the orchestra for the Brandon Church music committee and sang solos for many functions. He enjoyed travelling, camping, and visiting Disney theme parks. He accepted the gradual physical limitations of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy with courage and dignity. He is mourned by Elisabeth, son Marvin; daughters Marlene Yogis and Violet Herring; 12 grandchildren. The funeral was Apr. 11 in Westwood Community Church, Winnipeg.
