Five Young People Killed, Two Hurt In Manitoba Crash

Steinbach, Man. — A head-on auto crash on Highway 59 near Ile des Chenes, Man. the morning of June 22 claimed the lives of five young people and seriously injured two others.

Six young people in the one car were believed on their way to Winnipeg for breakfast after attending a graduation party at a home in Niverville. Four of the group had just graduated from the Niverville Collegiate.

Dead are Eric Hiebert, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Hiebert; Donald Lloyd Kehler, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Kehler; Allan Donald Regehr, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Regehr; Jennifer Ann Stott, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stott; and Raymond J. Delorme, 21, of St. Pierre, driver of the second car involved.

Taken to the hospital in St. Boniface were David W. Hiebert, 17, brother of Eric, and Candace Heather Shand, 17, who suffered multiple fractures.

Funeral services for Eric Hiebert and Jennifer Stott were held June 25 at the Niverville M. B. Church. Services for Donald Kehler were held June 26 at the Niverville Chortitzer Church, and at the same time services for Allan Regehr were conducted at the Grace Mennonite Church Steinbach.
