Retired Bishop Dies in Ontario

Word has been received here that Jesse B. Martin, well-known retired bishop and churchman of Waterloo, Ontario, died on March 4. He was 76.

Bishop Martin held positions of leadership in the Ontario Mennonite Conference as well as in the Mennonite General Conference over a period of many years. He was one of the founders of the Ontario Mennonite Bible School, where he served on the faculty and as business manager.

He was active in the Conference of Historic Peace Churches of Ontario, and served on the Mennonite Central Committee.

For many years Bishop Martin was pastor of the Erb Street Mennonite Church, Waterloo, and he traveled widely in Bible conference and evangelistic work.
