• Daniel Duerksen, 80, retired farmer of Route 2, Newton, died Dec. 28 at the Bethesda Hospital, Goessel. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Alexanderwohl Church, with Rev. Ronald Krehbiel officiating. Mr. Duerksen farmed for many years on Route 2, Canton. His first marriage was to Marie Schmidt, and she died in 1930. In 1932 he married Margaret Regier, who died in 1961. In 1967 he married Mrs. Martha Klassen, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Milton and Marvin, both of Route 2, Canton; three daughters, Ella of Hesston, Mrs Rudolf Schroeder of Route 2, Hillsboro, and Mrs. Ronald Unruh of Durham; three step-sons and two step-daughters; a brother, Rudolf, of Route 2, Canton; 11 grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren.
