MRS. GUSTAV P. REGIER

Anna Andres Regier was born in Elbing, Germany on July 26, 1884, to Gustave and Anna Andres. She went to be with the Lord Sunday morning, Oct. 29, 1972, having reached the age of 88 years.

Coming with her parents to America at the age of two, Newton and vicinity became her home all through life. She spent her early years on a farm five miles northeast of Newton. For 57 years he lived two miles east of Newton, and almost eight years at the Bethel Home.

Mother accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour from sin and was baptized upon her confession of faith as a young person. She united with the First Mennonite Church at Newton where she expressed her deep devotion to her Lord and to her church, remaining a faithful prayer-partner until her homegoing.

Mother married Gustav P. Regier on Jan. 4, 1906, with whom she shared joys and sorrows for 57 years. Their home was blessed with three sons and three daughters. A son, Arthur, and a daughter, Olga, preceded our parents in death. A son-in-law and a daughter-in-law were also taken from their family. Father went to be with the Lord on Aug. 20, 1963.

Among the experiences in life, our parents enjoyed so much their 25the wedding anniversary and in 1956 their golden wedding anniversary.

During her stay at the Bethel Home, she often expressed her appreciation for the many good things that were hers to enjoy. All her physical needs were cared for in love, and she always looked forward to the regular Friday afternoon service. The social times with the residents meant so much to her. Mother cherished the memory of a recent communion service held for a group of residents and conducted by her two pastors.

The family includes Helen and Richard Thoman of West Liberty, Ohio; Marie and Guss Entz, Newton; Gus and Hilda Regier, Newton; Walter and Ruby Regier, Peoria, Ill.; Willard and Elma Regier, Newton; Louise Hiebert, Wichita; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Herman J. Andres, and one sister, Elizabeth Andres.
