Physician Served Mt. Lake Community For Nearly 50 Years

Mt. Lake, Minn. — This community paid final tribute to Dr. William A. Piper, physician here for nearly half a century, at funeral services held Nov. 12 in the Bethel Mennonite Church. He died Nov. 10 at Bethel Hospital at the age of 88.

As a token of the community’s esteem, stores here were closed during the time of the funeral.

Born and raised on a farm near Kankakee, Ill., Dr. Piper was a graduate of Northwestern University and began his practice here in 1914. He was a former president of the Mt. Lake Community Club and the local board of education. During his long practice, he delivered over 3,000 babies. He retired in 1961.

Survivors include his widow, Agatha, one son and one daughter.
