Victim of Muscular Dystrophy Dies

Berne, Ind — Daniel B. Schwartz, 37, well-known resident of the Amish settlement south of here, died Sept 25 after spending much of his life in a wheel chair due to muscular dystrophy.

The immediate cause of death was cirrhosis of the liver, for which he had been hospitalized. He had suffered from the muscular disease since he was 11 years old. but had been active in painting signs and clock repair.

A brother, Merlin Schwartz, also suffers from muscular dystrophy and resides at the home of a sister and brother-in-law, Bishop Levi H. and Lydiann Schwartz, where the funeral for Daniel was held.

Other survivors include his widow, the former Viola Eicher; his father, Dan L. Schwartz, and stepmother, Lizzie Ann; another brother and sister and two half-brothers.
