JOHN DUERKSEN

John Duerksen died May 13. He was born Aug. 13, 1920 in Kolantarovica, Russia to Henry and Mary Duerksen. In 1926 the family immigrated to Holmfield, Man. He married Susan Warkentin Oct. 9, 1943 in Vancouver. They farmed in the Holmfield district until Oct. 1976 when they moved to Killarney, Man. John was a farmer, school bus driver, volunteer ambulance and handi-van driver. He served as usher in Lakeview Community Church, Killarney. He enjoyed travelling by car, particularly to the Rocky Mountains. He loved his family and enjoyed woodworking. Predeceased by 2 grandchildren, he is mourned by Susan; son John; daughters Judy Dueck, Dianne Unrau, Susan Hamm, Lynda Brubacher, Rose Heide and Barb Nickel; 20 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The funeral was May 17 in Lakeview Community Church.
