• Funeral services for Tobias B. Schmidt, 68, of Route 3, Newton, were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Grace Hill Mennonite Church. Rev. E. J. Miller, the pastor, and Rev. Herbert Miller officiated. Mr. Schmidt died the evening of Feb. 23 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He was a retired farmer and a part-time employee at Prairie View Mental Health Center. Survivors include his widow, the former Lena Decker; two daughters, Mrs. John Claassen of Whitewater and Mrs. Otto Holgersen of Portland Ore.; a son, Harold, of Salina; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Harms of Route 3; two brothers, John F. of North Newton and Aaron K. of South Bend, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
