MRS. HELEN ESAU

Helen Regier Esau was born on a farm in Harvey County, Kansas to John K. and Anna Unruh Regier. She attended school at the O. K. elementary and the Hoffnungsau and Goessel Preparatory Schools. Later she attended Bethel College for one year and also taught school.

In 1907 she was baptized upon confession of her faith and received into the membership of the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. Later she joined the Buhler Mennonite Church as a charter member and remained a faithful member until her death.

On Dec. 225, 1918 she was united in marriage to Nick D. Esau. This home was blessed with three children. In 1968 they had the joy of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Less than a year later father passed on to his eternal reward.

Mother always tried to put Christ first in her life and trusted her Saviour for every detail. She was greatly concerned about the spiritual welfare of her children and grandchildren. She spent much time in prayer for each one. In church she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the church's first sewing society and greatly enjoyed this work until her illness.

It was a blessing and joy to mother to share daily experiences with her only living sister, Agatha, Mrs. J. B. Ediger, who lived across the street for the past 22 years.

Mother became ill this summer. Throughout her prolonged stay in the hospital, her faith never wavered. Many times she expressed a longing to go to her heavenly Home. The Bible reading, visits, prayers, cards, and singing in the hospital comforted her. "Jesus still lead on" "Thy will be done" were her frequent comments.

Her prayers and ours were answered when she entered into the presence of her Lord on Friday, Nov. 26. Her greatest wish was that all her children and grandchildren might be reunited in our heavenly Home some day. We cherish her many prayers and Christian examples.

She leaves to mourn a son, Dr. Willis Esau and wife Eunice of Hutchinson; two daughters, Helma and husband Edward Kerens of Hutchinson and Rachel and husband Wilbur Neufeld of Buhler; one sister, Mrs. J. B. Ediger, and one brother, Rev. P. K. Regier; one sister-in-law, Mrs. J. U. Regier; 13 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
