AGNES BERGEN

Agnes Bergen died Feb. 20, She was born July 9, 1911 to Frank and Anna Friesen in Shovrov, Russia . In 1916 the family moved to Gregorevka. Her mother died of ty- phoid fever when Agnes was 9, Her fa- ther married a widow with 6 children. The family's home, barn and livestock were burned in a fire. Her father died when Agnes was 12. When she was 13 she went to live with her grandparents. In 1926 they immigrated to Mexico, then to Manitoba in 1927. She worked on the fami- ly farm, then worked in Winkler and Win- nipeg as a housemaid. She married Jacob Bergen July 19, 1942 in Holland, Man., then moved to B.C. They settled on a farm in Greendale and attended Greendale MB Church. She worked hard, had a large gar- den and put up many preserves. They left the farm in 1977, and in 1991 moved to Clearbrook. Her focus was her family. She leaned on her faith in God to help her through many trials. She is mourned by Ja- cob; sons Theodore, Ernest, Peter, Walter; daughter Helen. The funeral was Feb. 23 in Clearbrook MB Church.
