Mother, Son Killed In Crash at Goessel

Goessel, Kan. — A two-car crash near here Sunday evening claimed the lives of Mrs. Orville Klassen, 47, and her seven-year-old son, Douglas Roy, of Route 2, Canton.

They were passengers in a car driven by the husband and father when it was hit by a car driven by Mrs. Leo Anzieck of Kansas City, Kan. at the intersection one mile north of the Goessel west corner. Mrs. Klassen and son were pronounced dead upon arrival at Bethel Hospital in Newton. Mr. Klassen suffered a serious chest injury but is expected to recover.

Mrs. Klassen was the former Beatrice Marie Fry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Fry of Hutchinson. Besides her husband and parents, she leaves three brothers and sisters. Douglas was a second grader at the Goessel Grade School.

Double funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Goessel Mennonite Church, of which Mrs. Klassen was a member.
