Retired Minister Suffers Fatal Attack At Winona Lake

Goshen, Ind. — Rev. J. D. Hartzler, 85, retired minister of the Waldo Mennonite Church at Flanagan, Ill., suffered a fatal heart attack Aug. 17 while attending a Bible conference at Winona lake.

The body was brought to the Hartzler-Gutermuth Funeral Home in Elkhart and then to Flanagan where the funeral services and burial took place on Aug. 20.

A native of Garden City, Mo., Rev. Hartzler served the Waldo congregation for over 40 years.

Survivors include sons Paul of Minonk, Ill. and Floyd of Flanagan; two daughters, Mrs. Lester Litwiller of Carlock, Ill., and Mrs. Ruth Schertz of Bloomington, ill.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, L. J. of Goshen and Ira of Garden City; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary King of Garden City and Mrs. Anna Eigsti of Buda, Ill.
