MENNO KLASSEN

Menno Klassen died Oct. 31. He was born Apr. 20, 1912 in Great Deer, Sask., to David D. and Anna Klassen. His father died in 1915. His mother married Heinrich D. Goertz in 1917. He married Elizabeth Thiessen Aug. 2, 1942. They farmed, then moved to New Westminister, B. C. He helped with planting Strawberry Hill (Kennedy Heights) MB Church. He played the steel guitar in a church instrumental ensemble. He worked at Canada Western Cordage, retiring in 1977. They enjoyed travelling, visiting grandchildren and entertaining friends and family. Menno loved carpentry and gar- dening. They attended Aldergrove (B.C.) MB Church. He looked after Elizabeth after her massive stroke in 1986 until she died in 1998. He lived in Abbotsford where he enjoyed baking, cooking and visiting. He was gentle, and will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit and sense of humour. Predeceased by Elizabeth, 2 brothers, he is mourned by son Dennis, Abbotsford; daughter Darlene Rahn, Centralia, Wash.; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters.
