JACOB KORNELIUS PENNER

Jacob Kornelius Penner of Kelowna, B.C. passed away on March 14. He was born July 29, 1908 to Kornelius and Helena Penner in Russia. IIi 1929 he immigrated to Canada, settling first in Waldheim, Sask. There he married Elizabeth Schmidt. Then the couple moved to Glenbush, Sask., were baptized there and joined the Mennonite Brethren church. Later they moved to B.C. for several years, then to Winnipeg for 25 years. His .wife passed away in January 1978, after which his sister Agatha of Kelowna took care of him. He is survived by one brother, Peter K. Penner and his wife of Clearbrook, B.C.; three sisters: Sarah (Mrs. Peter) Siemens, Helena (Mrs. Frank) Reinke (both of Clearbrook), and Agatha (Mrs. Henry) Enns of Kelowna. The funeral took place March 18 in Kelowna, with Kelowna MB pastor Ed Wiebe officiating.
